“Concrete jungle where dreams are made of…”

I’m leaving in a few days to visit my good friend, Sara in New York! It’ll be my first time in the Big Apple, as well as the East Coast, not to mention it has been close to a year since I last saw Sara; I’m very excited! I’ve been going through my guide-book to New York City and jotting down places to check out, while also studying the city and subway/train map (which reminds me a lot of the Paris Metro). Hopefully, I don’t get too lost. Right now, the weather in NYC is cold and snowy, but according to Weather.com, it’ll get warmer and sunnier when I get there. Sara lives in Manhattan, in East Village, to be exact. In San Francisco, East Village is comparable to Haight and North Beach put together (or so it seems from what I read online about it). All I know about the city of New York is what I’ve read, heard about, or seen on TV. It’ll be interesting to see the city firsthand and get a glimpse of life and culture (and food) on the other side of the country. Lately, I’ve been listening to “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, as well as “Top of the World” by the Pussycat Dolls (which is the theme song for MTV’s popular reality show based in New York, “The City”) to get hyped up.
I’ll be blogging about my experience while I’m there, so check back here if you want to know what I’m doing, seeing, and eating. I’m not bringing my laptop, so all my blogging will be from my Blackberry (to get even more technical, I’ll be writing my posts through email), which means grammar and spelling may not be up to par. Aside from that, I hope you enjoy the posts!
Below are the two songs I’ve been listening to nonstop (via YouTube). Check it out and get in the NYC mood with me.
